BCTC STUDENTS PLACE SECOND AND THIRD AT REGIONAL SKILLS CONTEST
Northampton Community College in partnership with Chrysler Motors Corporation announced the winners of the Northampton Community College Automotive Skills Contest-Written portion. Over 170 high school students representing 17 schools competed in the written portion of the contest. The two highest individual test scores of each school were averaged to determine the winner. The top six qualifying teams will proceed to the hands-on portion of the contest and have a chance to win a new car or truck for their school.
Berks Career and Technology Center-East Campus and Berks Career and Technology Center-West Campus teams placed second and third in the contest. Team members for BCTC-East are Daniel Boone Area seniors Charles Salkowski and Michael Blackwell. BCTC-West team members are seniors Christopher Chapman, Schuylkill Valley, and Ethan Ginrich, Tulpehocken Area. Andrew Bright, Wilson senior is the alternate. Ethan Ginrich earned the highest individual test score.
The remaining qualifying teams include Lancaster County Career and Technology Center, Western Center for Technical Studies, Lehigh Career and Technical Institute and Bethlehem Area Vo-Tech. Monroe County AVTS is an alternate.
The hands-on portion of the contest is scheduled for March 2000.
