NATIONAL CERTIFICATION EARNED FOR RECREATIONAL AND
POWER EQUIPMENT TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM
The Recreational and Power
Equipment Technology Program at Berks Career and Technology Center has earned
national technician certification from the Equipment and Engine Training
Council (EETC). The award includes certification in two-cycle engines,
four-cycle engines and electrical technology. Berks Career and Technology
Center is one of four technical facilities in Pennsylvania to achieve this
standard.
The program surpassed all of the requirements of EETC's Outdoor Power Equipment
accreditation program for power equipment. This multilevel accreditation
standards program was created to improve the quality and consistency of
training offered at the high school, vocational school and college levels.
Through the use of these industry-developed standards, graduating students will
be prepared to enter the outdoor power equipment industry with the skills and
values desired by employers.
Students at BCTC will be able to test for OPE certification in specialty areas.
Alignment with this certification provides students enrolled in the program the
opportunity for advanced placement in higher education and more gainful
employment.
