NETWORKING STUDENTS "LOCK-IN" FOR CANCER
April 19, 2004
On Friday, April 16 and Saturday, April 17, students from the Berks Career and Technology Center ’s (BCTC) Information Technology-Networking program held it’s first annual "Lock-In" to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The event took place at BCTC’s East Campus.
At 5 p.m. on Friday, students set up a LAN party in a classroom and secluded themselves, playing games for twenty-four hours. In order for students to participate, they had to secure sponsors and were required to stay awake for the entire twenty-four hours. All of the proceeds were donated to the Berks County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
According to program instructor Chris Nappi, the students were very instrumental in organizing the event. "The students have taken it upon themselves to work together on developing the concept, guidelines, and communications involved with the event," explained Nappi.
