CAREER CENTER STUDENTS AMONG WINNERS AT REGIONAL COMPUTER FAIR
Berks County, PA - Amanda Gray, a student at the Berks Career and Technology Center, captured first place at the Berks County Intermediate Unit's Regional Computer Fair on April 6, 2005. Gray is a student at Exeter High School and is enrolled in Visual Imaging and Design Technology at BCTC's West Campus in Bern Township. Her winning entry in the Graphic Design category of the contest was a poster design entitled "Trapped," with her chosen topic of women’s suffrage during times of war featuring the organization, Amnesty International. Gray will compete in the Pennsylvania High School Computer Fair, May 24 at Dickenson College in Carlisle, PA. Gray will compete against students from across the state for the top prize of $500 in her category.
Second place honors were also awarded to four other students from the Berks Career and Technology Center’s Visual Imaging and Design Technology program. Cody Brown, a Boyertown Area Senior High School junior placed second in the computer fair logo category, and Benjamin DiBuono, an Exeter Township Senior High School senior placed second in the information web site design category with his project entitled "messyhandsusa.com." Two juniors from Oley Valley High School, Keith Richardson and Nathan Hoover, placed second in the team event category of animation with their project entitled "Noodles Goes to Burger Cult."
The Pennsylvania High School Computer Fair is an annual event that highlights Pennsylvania high school students' application skills and computer knowledge. Students are able to unleash their creativity, learn how to convey information more dynamically, and enhance the learning process. The categories include animation, computer fair logo, curriculum-based web page design, digital movie, graphic design, information-based web page design, multimedia presentations, and text-based desktop publishing.
