MACHINIST/TOOLMAKER APPOINTED TO
NATIONAL TRADE BOARD
Erik Damgaard, Machinist/Toolmaker Instructor BCTC, West Campus has been
appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Institute for Metalworking
Skills (NIMS). The appointment is for three years. He has served as a member of
NIMS Certification and Credentialing Committee.
The National Institute for Metalworking Skills is a non-profit organization
formed in 1995 to support the development of a skilled workforce for the
metalworking industry. NIMS support is accomplished through four activities:
skill standards, credentialing, certification, and partnerships. The
Machinist/Toolmaker program at BCTC has been recognized and awarded the NIMS
certification. The certification is a prestigious honor and represents
industry's mark of approval and recognition of the training programs offered in
the trade.
Damgaard has been employed at the Berks Career and Technology Center since
1995. He is a graduate of the former Williamsport Area Community College with
an associate 's degree in toolmaking technology and has his journeyman's papers
in tool & die making from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Damgaard received
his teaching credentials from Temple University and holds a certificate in
work-based learning from Pennsylvania State University, where he is currently
enrolled in the bachelor of science program.
Damgaard's employment experience spans 29 years in the machinist/toolmaker
industry. Prior to coming to BCTC, Damgaard served as an instructor at
Schuylkill Career and Technology Center and owned and operated the Nordic Tool
& Die Company in Ringtown, PA. |
