BCTC STUDENT SELECTED TO SERVE ON YOUTH FOUNDATION

Amy Dreibelbis, a student in the Health Related Technology Program at BCTC, East Campus, will serve as the Career Center's representative on the Youth Advisory Committee of the Berks County Community Foundation. Dreibelbis is a junior at Brandywine Heights Area High School and the daughter of Ricky Dreibelbis and Bonnie Spitale.

The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) comprises 25-30 teens in grades 9 through 12 from across Berks County who contribute their time and talents to practice philanthropy on issues facing their peers in Berks County. The Board of Directors of the Berks County Community Foundation approved the creation of YAC in order to give interested Berks County youth hands-on experience in making decisions on grants. The foundation strongly believes that young people should be able to participate in community decisions that affect them and their peers. Since its inception in 1998, YAC has selected and assisted 15 agencies to receive grants totaling approximately $60,000.

As a student in BCTC's Health Related Technology program, Dreibelbis's concentration is physical therapy and pre-professional holistic care. She plans to attend college to study surgical technology. She holds officers' position in two of BCTC's career and technical student organizations (CTSO). She serves as the Career Center's East Campus chapter secretary for HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) and holds the office of vice president of SkillsUSA-VICA.
