BCTC TO HOST INFORMATION SESSION FOR NEW HVAC TECHNICAN PROGRAM

A high demand for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration installers, mechanics, and repairers has created a shortage of trained professionals, both locally and regionally. The Berks Career and Technology Center (BCTC) is aware of this serious matter and has taken steps to address this need by introducing a new HVAC technician program at its East Campus in Oley.

Traditionally, the Berks Career and Technology Center has provided instruction in this field to its secondary students. However, because of the high demand, BCTC’s Adult Continuing Education department has designed an additional HVAC daytime program, specifically for adults. On Thursday, November 20, 2003, a special information session will be held for individuals interested in learning more about the HVAC trade and BCTC’s adult daytime program in this field. It will be held at the East Campus in Oley, (3307 Friedensburg Road), from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Students will work and learn in a state-of-the-art lab under the expert instruction and supervision of an experienced HVAC professional. The program is a hands-on learning environment that promotes teamwork, troubleshooting, and real work experience. Students have the option of attending full time or part time. Persons with mechanical, electronic, or electrical experience, as well as aptitude and interest are especially well suited to a career in this profession.
