In BCTC’s Graphic
Imaging Technology program you will become acquainted with
the printing and publishing
industry, related safety issues and career opportunities. You
will learn the basic principles of lithography and develop
skills in
film assembly, plate making, and offset press operation.
A study of color theory and application will
introduce materials and technologies used for color reproduction
process printing.
This course investigates the many materials used in the printing
industry. You will gain experience in printing production and
management. Practices such as inventory control, printing
layouts, job processing/estimating,
and quality control issues will also be addressed. Macintosh/PC Desktop
Publishing is made available to all students who desire training
in this area of the printing industry. You have the opportunity
to follow a job through the entire printing production process,
from page layout/imposition to electronic pre-press, to four-color
printing and finishing/bindery operations.
