Electronic Technology

photo

Teacher: Leonard Krug, West Campus

The core curriculum will focus on direct current circuits, alternating current circuits, semiconductor circuits, digital circuits, and microprocessors. Students will also acquire skills in schematic reading, interpreting technical manuals, and the use of general test equipment such as volt/ohm/ammeters, variable AC/DC power supplies, signal generators, and oscilloscopes. Students participating in the program are expected to earn the Certified Electronic Technician (CET) certification. The course sequence is paced to allow students to complete one of the required four tests that comprise the certification program each semester.

Successful students who earn their CET may pursue CompTIA A+ Certification
in computer repair during their third year of the program. Also during the third
year, students will apply their CET content knowledge to the application of wireless technology.

Instruction in wireless technology will include radio theory; wireless components and terminology; basic analog circuits; antennas and towers; cabling and connectors; block diagrams, schematics, and flow charts; grounding; mobile systems; satellite telecommunications; radio networks and other wireless topics.

Completing this course will prepare a student to enter college in various
engineering/technical fields of electronics, science, physics and NANO science. Job opportunities are greatly increased with at least a two-year or a four-year degree
following completion of this program.
