The Photo Imaging Technology course offers instruction that prepares individuals to understand and use the technology and skills needed to function in the exciting field of commercial photography.

Students involved in this course of study will be responsible for understanding and using the entire process of photography from determining exposure, composing and recording an image, to producing the final print, using both conventional and digital processes. The major part of the course involves working in depth with the latest in digital imaging and basic understanding of all aspects of image output.

The core curriculum covers fundamentals of computerized design technology, principles of color, project production procedures, principles of basic photography, camera systems, action photography, electronic flash techniques, portrait lighting techniques, filter and film applications, products of graphic design, products of web design, electronic illustration, image manipulation, fundamentals of page layout, interactive/video graphics development, introduction to web design and web design graphics development and project production management.

As part of the Graphics Cluster, Photo Imaging students will interact with students from Visual Imaging and Design and Graphic Imaging. This cross-over learning process exposes the students to the related issues and skills relevant for their specific areas of interest and skill needs.

All aspects of the commercial photo imaging field now embrace digital
technology as every-day tools. Emerging technologies, such as “immersive
