What's a day in the
life of an emergency medical technician really like? What types of businesses
employ commercial artists? Where do horticulture students work after
graduation? What are the actual job responsibilities of a cabinetmaker? How do
machinists feel about their line of work? Do cosmetologists enjoy their jobs?
Students can get the answers to these and similar questions by
participating in job shadowing. Students follow workers as they go about their
day performing duties in their everyday work environment. Students benefit
from seeing work as it is in real life and enjoy learning first-hand from
people who have careers in fields that interest them. The program is designed
to give students a better understanding of their career focus and help them in
making career decisions.
All students are encouraged to participate in a job shadowing experience
during their enrollment at Berks Career and Technology Center. Students are
allowed to visit a specific work site that is approved by their program
instructor and parent(s). To find out more about job shadowing, students are
invited to speak to their BCTC instructors.
