Program Entrance Recommendations:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Ability to communicate orally with resident and nursing staff
Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) 126 hours
The Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program prepares students for employment as an entry level, certified healthcare worker. This course will provide students with basic nursing and personal care skills to provide high quality patient care in a long term care facility or private setting. This 126-hour course includes classroom theory and real world clinical experience working with healthcare personnel providing direct patient care.
Upon completion of the CNA program students will be prepared to take the test for the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry administered by the American Red Cross at Berks Career & Technology Center.
This class meets 5 days per week for 2 hours for classroom theory at BCTC and 5 days per week for 8 hours at a local long term care facility for clinical instruction.
The cost of the Nurse Aide Registry certification test is not included in the tuition. A physical, immunizations and background checks are required prior to enrollment.
