The Health Occupations program is intended to develop necessary skills, knowledge and attitudes for safe, competent performance as an entry-level worker in the healthcare field such as a nurse’s aide or a home health aide. Classroom and laboratory instruction are combined with field trips and clinical experiences to expose the student to a variety of health career choices.
Nursing Assistant students in this program are prepared to take the test for Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.
The core curriculum includes an introduction to health care, infection control, safety and emergency procedures, ethical and legal responsibilities, nutrition, normal body functions and common diseases, patient care, human growth and development, rehabilitation and office procedures.
All students are expected to complete a clinical experience.
