    The Health Occupations program is a three year course intended to develop necessary skills, knowledge and attitudes for safe, competent performance as an entry-level worker in the health- care field such as a nurse's aide or a home health aide. Classroom and laboratory instruction are combined with field trips and clinical experiences to expose the student to a variety of health career choices. Nursing Assistant students in this program are prepared to take the test for the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

    The core curriculum includes an introduction to health care, infection control, safety and emergency procedures, ethical and legal responsibilities, nutrition, normal body functions and common diseases, patient care, human growth and development, rehabilitation, and office procedures.

    All students are expected to complete a clinical experience. Seniors may secure employment in the cooperative education program.

    Health Occupations is also a Technical Academy Program.

    * BCTC will pay for one pair of safety glasses (if required) and may assist with payment for the testing fees or core certification tests (first time only).  Additional safety glasses and testing fees must be paid by the student.
