Ryan Ott, owner of B&L Heating and Air Conditioning – a heating ventilation and air conditioning company based out of Leesport, received BCTC’s 2019 Life Long Friend award on Wednesday, March 27 from the BCTC Joint Operating Committee and was presented with a plaque by JOC Chairperson, Oscar Manbeck and BCTC Executive Director, Dr. James Kraft.  Ott has served many roles at Berks Career and Technology Center and has been a huge supporter of BCTC’s  HVAC students for several years. He is also serves on the BCTC Occupational Advisory Committee and has provided leadership and insight into the HVAC industry.

The Lifelong Friend of BCTC is an annual award in recognition of an individual who has gone above and beyond to support the students and staff of the Berks Career and technology Center.  Ott has donated over $1,000 for the HVAC equipment for the 2018 Student Built House Project and has donated his time to proctor BCTC’s annual NOCTI performance tests each year.  “It is through efforts like Mr. Ott that has contributed to significantly advancing the opportunities for students at BCTC. We appreciate all of the industry support we receive,” Dr. James Kraft, Executive Director of Berks Career and Technology Center, said.

Mr. Ott mentored a former BCTC HVAC student, Timothy A. Moll, who was an outstanding student that received several “Student of the Quarter” awards and a summer internship which provided him with the opportunity to learn from experts in the HVAC industry.  He then gained a Co-Op opportunity which led to a full-time position with Ott’s company until his passing. Upon losing a bright student and dedicated employee, Ryan Ott created a $1000 scholarship fund for a HVAC student in Timothy A. Moll’s honor as well as making a $500 yearly donation to the BCTC HVAC program for new equipment.  Ott currently has two BCTC graduates working for his company as well as two HVAC students working with him in high school co-op positions.

“I have known Ryan since 2014, when he gave my son, Timothy a summer internship opportunity. Timothy grew tremendously under Ryan’s leadership and he learned that HVAC was what he wanted to do as a career. Ryan has not only been a friend to my BCTC family, he has also been an amazing, supportive friend to my personal family as well,” Heidi Moll, BCTC instructional assistant, said.
