Bailey Kerns is a Welding Technology student at BCTC West Campus from Conrad Weiser High School. Bailey plans to go directly into the workforce after graduation, as a full-time welder.
Bailey is a very accomplished student. He has won "Student of the Quarter" and "Perfect Attendance" and is a member of SkillsUSA. He placed second in the SkillsUSA regional competition in 2017 and 2018. Bailey also participated in the AWS Reading Section Competition in 2017 at level 2 and in 2018 at level 3, earning first place on both occasions.
In addition to these awards, Bailey is an Eagle Scout, and a member of his high school lacrosse team and the ski club.
Bailey has earned seven welding industry certifications during his time at BCTC. He is also participating in an internship at East Coast Steel Fabrications as a welder and cutter. After graduation, he plans to continue on at his current employer as a full-time welder.
When asked what he liked best about BCTC, Bailey said, "The fact that I can learn a technical trade that will prepare me for a profitable career out in the workforce. The hands-on training of BCTC is absolutely exceptional, teachers will teach you everything needed for a career."
