Maia Hunter

robot tech Maia Hunter is a senior from the Wilson Area School District who studies Mechatronics at the BCTC West campus. Her long-term career goal is to become an engineer.

Because of her experience in the Mechatronics Technology program, Maia was able to secure internships at both Schneider Electric and Quadrant EPP. At Schneider, she worked in the Quality Department where she checked different items, managed packaging, and several office tasks. At Quadrant she worked in the Compression Molding section to help with cleaning duties. Some of her responsibilities included scraping plastic off molds, rings, and mandrels which allowed for more production to take place in the machines.

In addition, Maia was able to earn her OSHA 10-Hour Certification after successfully proving her ability to practice and understand safety procedures in various workforce settings. She was selected as "BCTC Student of the Quarter" and received the "Perfect Attendance" award. Maia also is an active member of SkillsUSA and the National Technical Honor Society.

Not only is Maia an excellent student, but she also is a hard worker outside of the classroom. She served as a volunteer at the Berks Food Bank, participated in the Blue-Marsh clean-up and prepared food for women and children at the Opportunity House. Furthermore, she is a member of Orchestra.

After graduating, Maia plans to attend Susquehanna University to study General Engineering.

When asked to write a quote about BCTC in her own words, Maia said, "BCTC is a great way to meet friends, learn things, and complete my high school career."

Your achievements have lead you on a terrific path, Maia. Good luck!
