Berks Career and Technology Center (BCTC) alumnus Ben Schaeffer is turning his passion into incredible opportunities. A graduate of the Video & Media Content Production program and current student at Point Park College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ben recently had the exciting chance to photograph the 2026 NFL Draft.
With special media access, Ben was able to experience the entire draft from behind the scenes, capturing unforgettable moments throughout the day. From 10:00 AM until nearly 9:00 PM, he worked tirelessly documenting one of the biggest events in professional football.
Ben’s passion for photography and media began during his time at BCTC, where he photographed many of the high school sports teams and gained valuable hands-on experience. He also worked with the Reading Fightin Phils as a mascot, further developing his confidence and skills in sports entertainment and media environments.
Reflecting on the experience, Ben shared that covering the NFL Draft reminded him how fortunate he was to learn from two outstanding BCTC instructors, Mr. Del Conte and Mr. Hasty. Their guidance in photography and videography helped build a strong foundation that has led to his success today.
“Being an alumnus of such an amazing school is pretty awesome, especially when you have those two teachers who changed your life,” said Ben. “I am so grateful for the opportunities I have achieved. I would not be here without my two amazing teachers and the support and love from BCTC.”
Ben’s story is a testament to how BCTC prepares students with real-world skills, professional mentorship, and the confidence to pursue their dreams.
