BCTC is celebrating the remarkable achievement of Tyler Stone, a 2013 graduate of the Video and Media Content Production (formerly Communications Media Technology) program, who has been nominated for a 2026 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Production Design for a Variety or Reality Series. Stone received the prestigious nomination for his work as Art Director on RuPaul's Drag Race for the episode "RDR Live Returns."

The 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on Sunday, September 14, at 8:00 p.m., recognizing excellence in television production and celebrating the industry's most talented creative professionals.

For Stone, the Emmy nomination is both a career milestone and a reminder of where his journey first began.  "It’s incredibly rewarding to realize that my journey into the entertainment industry began in a high school classroom," Stone said.  During his three years in BCTC's Communications Media Technology program, now known as Video and Media Content Production, Stone developed a strong foundation in filmmaking and media production while discovering a passion that would shape his career.  "The program helped me discover a career path that I genuinely fell in love with and gave me the confidence to pursue it," he said.

Today, Stone works in Los Angeles as an accomplished Art Director and Production Designer, building immersive environments for some of television's most recognizable productions. His impressive portfolio includes RuPaul's Drag Race, Honest Renovations, Food Network's Baking Championship series, Guy Fieri's Flavortown, and Chopped. He has also contributed to national commercial campaigns for Dick's Sporting Goods, Kroger, and DISH Network. Stone is a proud member of the Art Directors Guild (IATSE Local 800).

"Receiving a Primetime Emmy nomination for my work as an Art Director on RuPaul's Drag Race is an incredible honor, and it's made me appreciate even more where this journey began," Stone said.  While he credits BCTC with helping him discover his career path, Stone emphasizes that success comes from dedication and continuous growth.  "BCTC gave me the opportunity to explore a career that I genuinely enjoy, but everything that followed came through years of hard work, persistence, and continually learning my craft. Looking back, I'm grateful that this is where it all started."

Stone also shared words of encouragement for today's BCTC students, urging them to embrace every opportunity available to them.  "Take advantage of every opportunity to learn and create. Stay curious, ask questions, and don't be afraid to challenge yourself. The skills you build, the relationships you make, and the experiences you have now can open doors you never expected. You never know which class, teacher, or project might end up shaping your future."

Tyler Stone's Emmy nomination is a testament to the power of career and technical education and the impact of following a passion with determination. His journey from the classrooms and studios of BCTC to one of television's most prestigious honors serves as an inspiration to current and future students, demonstrating that the skills developed at BCTC can lead to extraordinary opportunities on a national stage.
