
Next in our Exceptional Senior spotlight is Samantha, a Video & Media Content Production completer and Fleetwood graduate, who was named BCTC’s West Campus Exceptional Senior for the Class of 2026.
Samantha made the most of her time at BCTC as a student ambassador, SkillsUSA chapter secretary, and National Technical Honor Society member. She also stayed active at Fleetwood through Interact Club and soccer, serving as team captain her senior year.
With a passion for media production, sports photography, and storytelling, Samantha will continue her education at Penn State University’s main campus to major in Telecommunications and Media Studies.

Owen made the most of his time at BCTC as a student ambassador, SkillsUSA leader, competition medalist, co-op student at Geoff Penske GMC, and the recipient of more than 100 certifications. He has already secured full-time employment in collision repair after graduation.

Five BCTC seniors received their high school diplomas on our stage before heading to Atlanta, Georgia, to compete at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference. In doing so, they missed their sending district graduation ceremonies to represent BCTC, their schools, and Berks County at the national level.
It was a proud moment for our ceremony, our school community, and the Class of 2026.

Think you’ve got what it takes? BCTC is seeking a self-motivated, team-oriented Lead Custodian who takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, functional, and secure facilities.
This full-time role is responsible for supporting daily building operations and ensuring facilities are properly maintained. Responsibilities include assigning and scheduling work, assisting with problem resolution, supporting grounds maintenance, responding to custodial requests from administration and faculty, completing quality control checks as directed, and helping ensure building work plans are carried out effectively.

The parts for this year’s NASA HUNCH project are finished and being shipped to NASA, where they will be quality tested before moving one step closer to their final destination: the International Space Station.
Through BCTC’s continued work with NASA HUNCH, the project gives students the chance to take their machining skills beyond the classroom and contribute to work with real standards, real purpose, and real impact.

These students are stepping onto the national stage to compete among the best career and technical education students in the country, proudly representing BCTC, their sending schools, and Pennsylvania along the way.
They have trained in the labs, earned their way through competition, and now it is time to see where their skills can take them.

After receiving his diploma, Austin is heading more than 1,200 miles west to Kansas to join Froese Brothers Harvesting and get to work with a national harvest crew.
Austin has spent the past two years building real-world skills through BCTC’s Heavy Equipment Operations program, including serving as a student supervisor at the quarry. Now, he’s taking that experience from the quarry to the combine as he helps harvest wheat, corn, and sorghum across the Midwest.

From the shop floor to a room full of Berks County leaders, this was one stellar night!

BCTC’s Adult Continuing Education Heavy Equipment Operations Summer Program puts adult learners behind the controls while building the skills used on active job sites.
Students will train on equipment including skid steers, compact track loaders, wheel loaders, backhoes, and excavators while learning safety practices, equipment terminology, preventative maintenance, rigging basics, soil compaction, and more.
The program wraps up with a hands-on job site simulation at the BCTC Quarry, giving students the chance to put their training to work in a real-world setting.

From repairing and restoring the truck bed and body to painting the truck and adding the red, white, and blue decals, students had their hands on every step of the process. The final result is a sharp reminder of what happens when technical skill, creativity, and pride in craftsmanship come together.
Reminder: In observance of Memorial Day, BCTC will be closed to all students from May 22 through May 25.
